Life should’ve been perfect. Kate Edwards had won the heart of police detective Jared Corbett and was coming to terms with her psychic ability. Things were blissful—until the day she met Declan Brayden.

Declan also has psychic visions and wants to work alongside Kate. Kate doesn’t trust the damaged and arrogant seer, but she knows combining their abilities would allow her to help more people. This becomes vital when visions of a missing fitness instructor turn into a race against time to save the girl’s life.

*WARNING* Some spoilers for the first book

Talk about a prologue. New Revelations opened with a seriously intense scene-one that was almost reminiscent of a Gillian Flynn creation (YEAH, I totally just made a Gillian Flynn comparison). It was pretty exciting to find out that the Second Sight series had a second, and now third!, book out. The author kept the momentum exactly where it needed to be, and I couldn't find the time to turn these pages fast enough.

Kate Edwards has accepted her fate: she's been given the gift of visions for a reason, and that reason is to help others find solace; find peace. It doesn't hurt that she is now the girlfriend of the man she fought tooth and nail for (almost literally). All is pretty much well in the world, until the day Kate catches Declan Brayden staring intently at her. Her luck increases, or decreases, when she learns that the creep staring is a Declan Brayden, a cocky fellow psychic who claims he can help her hone her skills. From that point on, it's a whole slew of trial and error, knowledge, conflicts, and visions of a missing girl that sends Kate into a frenzy.

KATE & JARED: I couldn't have asked for better scenes and dialogue if I had asked Heather Topham Wood myself. I loved the build-up to their final pairing in the first book, and was so excited to see it somewhat unfold, and flourish in New Revelations. The introduction of Declan, at first, seemed a little premature, I didn't feel like there was enough conflict going on with Kate and Jared yet for there to be someone else thrown into the mix. However, I saw what the author did there. Making Declan a fellow psychic was pure GENIUS, and made for even more entertaining dialogue.

I think I fell even more in comedic love with Kate in this book. I had almost forgotten how much I ADORED her snarkiness. I can't even express to you in intelligible words how refreshing it is to meet a female character who isn't afraid to speak her mind. I also appreciated that the author kept Kate the same physically. She isn't the "ideal" size 1, and can probably put some guys to shame with her appetite-I LOVED THAT. Throw in the fact that Jared obviously loves Kate exactly the way she is..and I think you've pretty much just made every.single. female reader deliriously happy. Forgot perfect, I'll take happy-in-her-own-skin ANY DAY.

Declan was a great introduction to the series, and the like/hate thing he had going on with Kate was frustratingly entertaining. I'm anxious, and a little scared, to find out in the third book (Dark Premonitions), if he helped Kate with more than just perfecting her gift.

Heather's writing is a joy to follow, and is so down to earth. New Revelations was definitely a lot darker and graphic than First Visions, but that only helped me respect her more as an author. She wasn't afraid to venture into uncomfortable territory-the key to success, in my opinion. I can't wait to read every single thing she puts out into the world.
